Coach Don Eckerle
Head Coach
 

As a former stand out player at Langley High School and Point Park University, Coach Eckerle has been coaching basketball for 38 years. He started his coaching career with boys basketball at the grade school level, followed by boys high school. He then coached 8 years with the Pittsburgh Steelwheelers wheelchair basketball team.  Once he had daughters, both of which would become OLSH alum, he switched his focus to girls basketball. In 2003 he joined the OLSH team and great things have been happening as a result. Now in his 13th season with the Chargers, Coach Eckerle has earned 4 section championships, 2 visits to the WPIAL championship game, 11 teams in the WPIAL playoffs, and 5 teams in the PIAA championship. In 2015, Coach Eckerle captured his 200th win with The Chargers. He looks to continue to add to that record this year.

 

Coach Sam Zyroll

Assistant Coach

Coach Sam Zyroll has also been involved with basketball since a young age. Having also played basketball at Langley High School, Coach Zyroll took his athletic ability to Slippery Rock University where he played football, as well as intramural basketball and baseball. He is still an active member of Slippery Rock, as he sits on the board of directors for the Alumni Association. In 2007 he received the "Past President's Service Award" from the University. Coach Zyroll came to OLSH in 2002 as a baseball coach, then in 2003, he began coaching the OLSH girl's team with Coach Eckerle. Prior to 2003, he coached at Holy Trinity, St. Margaret, and Holy Innocence. He is now in his 40th year of coaching and contiues to coach baseball and basketball at OLSH. As a coach here, he has coached in three WPIAL championship games. One with the baseball team, and two with the girl's basketball team.

Coach Micki Cerchiaro

Assistant/ Junior Varsity Coach

 

 

As an '08 graduate of OLSH, Coach Cerchiaro played on two section championship teams, as well as in two WPIAL championship games. While playing at OLSH she was all section for 4 years, and a Fab 5 player. She continued her basketball career at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. There she went on to be an all conference player, to tie a record for most steals in a game, to win two conference championship titles, to play in two NCAA tournaments (Sweet Sixteen), and play for the #2 ranked team in the country. Coach Cerchiaro joined the coaching staff at OLSH during the 2013-2014 season and is in her 3rd year of coaching.
